This latest release includes a modification to the Monitored Keywords module. This is a popular module, which is widely used by our customers, so we’ve re-designed it to help improve the overall user experience.
The new table now includes an additional column on the left hand side which allows you to select the keywords you want displayed on the chart. It will automatically update, as you make these selections (and de-selections) and any selected keywords will show up in the table as yellow rows.
As a result of this change, we’ve removed the old keyword group filters you would have been able to access under the chart, as they are no longer necessary. Now, if you want to select a keyword group to show on the chart simply filter by the keyword group column and use the select all option:
You can still click on the legend under the chart to remove individual keywords from the chart and this will be reflected in both the chart and the table. We’ve also added back in Rank Change as a separate column, so users can easily filter by the biggest changes in rankings:
As a result, you’ll now notice that if you use the grey Select Columns cog (on the top right hand corner of each table), it’s got a few more options:
If you make use the Rank and Rank Change column, you’ll have more flexibility when you export the data in Excel. For example, you can easily produce a report like this (with a little conditional formatting):
Please note, that the number of monitored keywords you’ll be able to display on this chart will be limited to 25 now. Any more than that and it becomes a bit of a ‘bird’s nest’.
Hopefully, you’ll like this new functionality and find it a little more intuitive. Regarding the effect on reports, nothing has changed; the platform will still remember your selections in terms of the keywords you want to display, the date range you’ve selected (for both chart and table) and the row filters you’ve applied to the table – these filters are stored on a user/site/campaign, it’s that specific!

p.p.s. Update….. okay, this perhaps shouldn’t be in a pps, but whatever… the day after we released 5.5.3, we added some minor, but significant changes:
1) Added Monitored Keywords and Keyword Group columns to the Universal Search module
This is very handy, if you want to produce a quick report to show a customer where they are ranking both organically, universally and in Google Places results.
2) Showed dead links (404s) from external referring domains in the Dead Links task table
This is handy, if you want to see external referring domains, which are linking to dead pages (404s) on your own site. Why? Well, you’ll be missing out on some link juice. You should either put in a 301 redirect, fix the page or ask the referring domain to link to another page on your site and get that nice link juice back!
3) Added a column to the Link Research table, showing the keyword and the ‘hack’ we used to obtain that link prospect. Very handy, if you’re an experienced SEO and want to only use specific types of hacks to generate your link prospects; or, if you simply don’t like the prospects in the table and want to start afresh with a new set of seed keywords.
