The Winner of the 2013 Super Bowl According to Social Media
On Friday we published a post on the respective Social and SEO profiles of the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. From our analysis of this data we correctly predicted that Ravens would win the Super Bowl XLVII!
On Friday we published a post on the respective Social and SEO profiles of the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. From our analysis of this data we correctly predicted that Ravens would win the Super Bowl XLVII! We had predicted an unlikely lead of 20 points and it was looking like this might actually be fulfilled as the Ravens led 28-6 in the third quarter but the power outage seemed to give the 49ers a new lease of life closing the gap to lose by the narrow margin of 34-31.
We've updated this information to look at the effect that the Superbowl had on these teams' Social Media profiles. I'd expect that both teams will have benefited from the massive media attention that accompanies the Super Bowl, both in terms of new followers across the Social Media sites and a host of new links. Further to this I'd expect that the Baltimore Ravens will have benefited more from all the attention simply because everyone loves a winner!
Across these social media sites the Ravens had a higher percentage increase in fans than the 49ers. However the 49ers were sufficiently ahead in these fields before the competition for this to have had much impact here. It was a close run battle, but I'd call it in favour of the 49ers - simply because they were able to maintain and grow their profiles. If the Ravens continue in this vein they would soon be in a position to topple the 49ers though there'd be a lot of work involved, particularly on Google+ where the Ravens are yet to make much of an impression. If the match had been decided by Google+ the 49ers would have won by 26-2!
