Competitive Position Tab

This section is all about keyword research and competitive gap analysis.

Before you set your goals for your SEO marketing campaign you first need to know where you are and how your site performs against your competition.  This tab is a key part of the SEO process as it allows you to answer these questions for each campaign and then gives you valuable insights and reports to help you make some realistic decisions about what you can achieve with your SEO campaign.

Current Position

Keyword Monitoring & Keyword Research - We perform rank checks in your preferred search engines for your monitored keywords every week.  Click on the 'Keyword research' button next to the Monitored Keywords topic and you will reach the detailed keyword research section where you can explore keyword data from many sources to help you to idenify which keywords you want to target.  Re-visit this section of the site throughout your SEO campaign, as it is updated daily and often finds new keywords for you to target.

Competitive Site Audit Table - This is a really useful reference table showing you how your site is performing compared to your top 5 selected competitors. It contains a number of different factors that are part of our fundamental SEO checks.  The information changes on a daily basis as our software tools find more information about your site and its competitors.  Some elements are weighted more highly than others in our scoring system.

The main thing to focus on here, is have you got ‘ticks’ in all the right boxes; and can you try and outperform your competitors across the board on the majority of elements. If you can, then over time you should see your search engine rankings and website traffic increase.

Universal Search - This highlights the keywords which generate image, news, shopping, local and video results.  You can target these keywords with a universal search SEO strategy to increase website traffic and conversions.

Comparative Rankings

This section highlights how your named competitors are ranking for your target keywords and summarises your overall keyword ranking performance so you can easily see how many keywords you have at No.1 or on page 1.

Potential

The sections on Marketplace potential and Keyword Potential help you to identify easy wins.  By analysing who else competes for your keywords, you can get a quick picture of the extent of your competition and how well you are doing; you often can also find new link partners who are ranking well for your keywords but are not competitors.  The Keyword Potential table highlights keywords where you are ranking reasonably well already and calculates which ones would give you the biggest increase in organic visits.
